President Mike Swartz led us in the pledge.

Visiting Rotarian: Greg Stoner

Happy Bucks:
Sandy Swartz for great response for their “The Last Dance of Dr. Disco” event this weekend, still a few tickets left.
Ray Krek for the trial he settled which will give him back his week of vacation in May and Ben Brantmeier and Ray will be hunting together next week.
Arvind Shah returned from India last week.
Dr. Meyer who has a speaker for the Top 10 High School luncheon, still looking for a speaker for the Top Ten Middle School luncheon. Any suggestions let him know.
Pastor Nancy-flood relief still going on in the area and approximately $2 million left to help flood victims but they need to apply asap. Any monies left will just go away the end of October.

Announcements:
Holly Skretta stated she would be going to a gymnastics event in Florida and needed to raise $600+ dollars for her to attend, she stated she was going to talk with 600 people and ask for a $1.00 towards the cause. Rotarians stepped up to the plate and gave her a $1.
Classification speech was given by Michael Blau.
Jim van Lieshout presented the financial status of the club. President Swartz then opened it up and some ideas were thrown out for fundraising ideas. Get your ideas to President Swartz before next Wednesday so the Board can discuss them at their meeting.

Steve Lewis for his first morning of biking and he couldn’t keep up.
Sandee Macht for winning the two night stay at Green Bay from the wine & beer event last Saturday night.
Gary Thompson found out this morning that the State of Wisconsin will now get the $100 million in stimulus money for schools.
Janet Werner for the Candidates forum tonight and she attended the Governor’s Conference on Tourism and had a great time.

Announcements:
Sandee Macht announced the RYLA students had been selected: Josh Kurtz, Alexia Wegner, Edgar Hernandez, alternates are Maggie Hutchinson and Marcie Garity.
Sandy Swartz wine & beer no figures yet. Beer left for sale. $1.00 a bottle. If any of you Rotarians who weren’t at the meeting today would like to purchase some, call Sandy.
President Swartz announced that 20 scholarship applications were received and the committee will look at them and pick 10. Committee consists of Mike Swartz, Janet Werner, Dr. Volk, Pastor Nancy, and Sandee Macht.

Program:
President Swartz presented the plans and costs for the school addition/renovation. The referendum will be on the April 6th ballot.

Dr. Meyers is all excited about the Destination Imagination competition this weekend which his whole family will be at.
Dr. Uhl will be going to Colorado this weekend and he’s glad he won’t have to deal with the rock slide they had in the area, he’s flying directly into Aspen.
Sandee Macht for her snow shoeing which she enjoyed while in northern Wisconsin.
Pastor Nancy for the chili supper at Immanuel United Methodist Church Saturday night from 4-7 pm.

Announcements:
March 13th sign up sheet for workers for the “A Wee Pint of Irish” event was sent around again. Sandee Macht and Sandy Swartz both emphasized the need for a profitable fundraiser, for help, and attendance by the club at this event.

Program:
Classification speeches were given by Paul Novitzke and Ron Michaelis. It is always very interesting to hear about our fellow Rotarians.

Paul Novitzke for spent time with his daughter who attends St. Norbert’s and will be going to Zambia in May.

Pastor Nancy for a group scheduled to return home but have been detained in Chili since the earthquake and are helping with those efforts.

Steve Lehmann for his neighbor Dr. Volk who did snow removal while they enjoyed their trip to the Bahamas last week.

Ron Michaelis for Ron & Marla who were the high bidders on an auction item from CPA fundraiser last fall “Day with a Mayor” and donated it to the 7th & 8th graders of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran School. “Day with a Mayor” started last night with them attending the City Council meeting and today seeing all aspects of how the City operates on a daily basis.

Dr. Volk for their daughter Mattie who placed high in her swimming events this past weekend. She has a triple A status. Also stating they spent 16 hours on bleachers.

Student Rotarians: February Student Rotarians Taylor Moehling, Jenifer Prophett, Vince Racanelli, and Britney Riedl were present. Each told of their enjoyable experience here this past month and their plans for the future.

 

Happy Bucks:

Ron Michaelis-happy he has a name badge and now has an identity.

Shirley Dempsey has a new car and she put out a lot of tickets for “A wee pint of Irish” in the businesses in the community.

Dr. Volk had $3 for his trip to Wyoming snowmobiling, his daughter Emily who has scored 10+ points on the freshman basketball team and daughter Mattie who is in the State Swim meet this weekend and is ranked very high in the state rankings.

Colleen Locke for her new beau which she accompanied her at the party last week.

Paul Novitzke for spending time with his son ice fishing last week and his daughter who attends St. Norbert’s and he will see this weekend.

Steve Lewis for Wesley having a full time job and Ross who is at Ripon college.

Pastor Nancy whose son is purchasing her house and she will now have Jefferson as her main residence.

Del Chmielewski for his daughter who was voted outstanding student at the college she attends.

President Swartz stated all had a good time at the party, barbershop quartet provided the entertainment.

February birthdays were observed: Pastor Nancy, Jim van Lieshout, and Student Rotarian Jenifer Prophett.

Executive meeting:

Please sell your beer & wine raffle & event tickets.

Antique & craft show will be Labor Day weekend.

District Conference is May 20-22.

Membership- we are 0 new members, need to have a +1 to be eligible for the presidential citation. 

PR- Food pantry article was in the paper.

Steve Lewis gave an update on the Family Fun Float-Canoe/Kayak event May 15th. $25 per canoe, canoes will be available for rent, brats and burgers in Rotary Park after the event.

RYLA-62 students applied, 15 received four nominations each.  Students will be selected in about two weeks.

Sandee Macht who will miss the party next week but will be enjoying four days in Bayfield.

Steve Lehmann who received a phone call about 1:10 on Sunday informing him that he had won the Kiwanis raffle $2500.

Tom Moore who was ice fishing and caught a 27” walleye, unfortunately he had to release it, just one inch short of the size limit. He was thinking about stepping on to make it a little longer.
