President Elect Janet Werner led us in the pledge.

 

Guests: No guests.

 

Student Rotarians: Caylee Cottrell, Cody Barnhart, Elizabeth Buroker, Jade Ashburn.  All told us their plans for the future and what they learned at Rotary this past month.  They were all presented with a Rotary t-shirt.

 

Happy Bucks:

Pastor Nancy leaving for Africa on November 6th.

Jim van Lieshout heading for Tennessee and will spend time with Bill Bluege.

Chris Nash for his civic duty, he was a juror for a jury.

Dr. Meyers for their son’s 21st birthday.

Paul Novitzke apologized for missing two meeting and he will miss next week also as he will be in a tree bow hunting.  Also for Gary Esse signing another three year contract for the car show.

Tom Monogue for his parents 50th wedding anniversary this weekend.

Del Chmielewski glad to be back- was in Costa Rico for four weeks and for seeing Tom’s daughter Marnie in Fiddler on the Roof and Del’s daughter had her first concert with the Master Singers which he hasn’t seen yet.

Steve Lewis for Colleen Locke stepping up to fill Matt Tubbin’s spot on the board.

Janet Werner for observing her fellow Rotarian going around in circles on his bike this morning.

Student Rotarians: Caylee Cottrell, Cody Barnhart, Elizabeth Buroker, Jade Ashburn.  They had a early dismissal day and all attended our meeting.  President Swartz told them they will be asked to give a brief what did you learn and what they liked most about attending Rotary meetings.

 

Happy Bucks:

Steve Lewis is making fresh wreaths for the holidays and his Iowa Hawkeyes won on Saturday.

Jim van Lieshout- Barb’s birthday today, only her hair dresser knows how old she is.

Sandee Macht-Josh had his first closing and for the Wild Wild West Event on Friday for the CPA.

Sandy Swartz for their Wild Wild West Event on Friday and your chances of winning the trip to Hawaii are very good as 240 tickets have been sold so far.  You can still sign up to come.

Mike Swartz for the call they received regarding horse trading.  Someone was looking to buy horses.

Tom Moore for the Agri Business meeting he attending and they have meat and cheese to sell.

Chris Stelzer for 18 month old started walking this weekend.

Steve Lehmann thanked everyone for attending and a thank you to the CPA Board who supplied the food which he bid on at one of their events.  Steve also stated Tuesday morning he found some pool money, $50 for Barb van Lieshout, $100 to spelling was really hard to read but figured out it went to the Sergeant of Arms.

Sandee Macht for the great time at lehmanns and Watertown Rotary Club is holding their wine & beer tasting event on Saturday.

Jill Ottow they will be grandparents for the first time.

Ray Krek had happy four quarters for Brett Farve.

Pastor Nancy for his Dad winning an award at the age of 87 years.

Bill Bluege who is a member of our club but lives in Tennessee was with us today.  Bill thanked the group for their warm welcome and for letting him continue his membership with the club.

Tom Moore for the gun he won at Ducks Unlimited so he really is a Sergeant at Arms!

Steve Lehmann for Monday night Rotary social event 6:45pm Oct. 5th.

Gary Thompson for winning a football pool.

Janet Werner for the Autumn Fest this Saturday, great event planned. City wide rummage sale

David Olsen for their 20th wedding anniversary and he just returned from Las Vegas.

 

President Swartz stated that someone one suggested that Rotarians donate a dollar for every year they are married and the same with birthdays.  He tried to collect from David.

 

Fines: Pastor Nancy suggested Ray Krek be fined for talking during Happy Bucks.

 

Judy Levine gave a happy buck just for being at our meeting and also being a new grandmother two weeks ago.

Pastor Nancy survived her hiking trip and Thursday she will be doing the opening prayer for the State Legislative session.

Del Chmielewski returned from Tennessee where he saw Bill Bluege who is doing well.

Jim van Lieshout made a comment regarding singing On Wisconsin which he would have gladly sang and somehow another comment about the Iowa fight song “we still suck.”

Fines: Tom Moore keeps making up rules that he claims are in our Rotary handbook.

Everyone who didn’t do a happy buck in the last three weeks was fined.

Mr. Lehmann for what happens at Rotary stays at Rotary which he evidently doesn’t know per Tom Moore.

President Swartz reminded the board of our board meeting next week.  Chris Stelzer will be inducted next week also.

Steve Lehmann asked if what happens at Rotary stays at Rotary then we should stop the newsletter.  President Swartz said we’d vote on it, motion failed.

 

Program: Steve Lewis introduced Kobby Antwi from Ghana who did a slide show and told about his country.  Kobby lives in a very small country with a large population.

 

President Swartz had a retirement party to attend so President Elect Werner closed the meeting

with the Four Way Test.
