President Sandee Macht welcomed everyone and led us in the pledge.

HAPPY BUCKS:
Dr. Volk for the benches in Rotary Park done and for the Rotarians who helped.
Steve Lehmann who won’t be here for the next two weeks,he will be Krek’s condo.
Pastor Nancy still selling tickets for the program at church and for yard to be done at her home.
David Olsen for their daughter who placed lst in a chess tournament.
Del Chmielewski who attended a fundraiser for Randy Koshnick.
Student Rotarians Doug Posorske and Lee Olson each gave a dollar for the play they will be at JHS on April 2,3,4 at 7pm.
FINES: None
March birthdays were observed: Gary Thompson, Jeff Johnson, Jim Jossart.
Board meeting:
Fundraiser will be May 2nd a beer tasting event at Vinnie’s. More details to follow.
RYLA-2 students have been chosen to attend.
Scholarship applicants-19 were received, committee will be meeting to select the recipients. Rotary Scholarship guidelines will be discussed at the April lst meeting and a vote will be taken.
Toby Tully Jr, will be speaking on membership next week.
There are some April dates open for speakers.
May- Top 10 8th grade and seniors speakers are confirmed and invites have been sent.
Board went through items which were brought from Meadow Springs to second floor storage room.
April 18th is District Assembly at the Dells.
May 2nd is District Conference, Hotel Mead at Wisconsin Rapids, $75 room needs to be reserved by March 25th.

HAPPY BUCKS:
Mike Swartz for the student Rotarians being there as they only have a ½ day of school this year.
Shirley Dempsey for the nice day yesterday and she got a lot of yard work done.
Pastor Nancy Carmichael for the cruise she went on with her Mom and daughter and the performance she attended at Whitewater on Tuesday. Women of the Bible to be held on April 2nd at 7pm at United Methodist Church.
Avind Shah for his trip to India and another successful eye camp.
FINES: Tom fined everyone who hadn’t done a happy buck in the past two months.
April 18th is District Assembly at the Dells.
May 2nd is District Conference, Hotel Mead at Wisconsin Rapids, $75 room needs to be reserved by March 25th.
Dr. Volk has for help re-assembling the benches on Thursday at 122 Park Avenue-Bill Schiferl’s garage. Call Dr. Volk if you can help.
Program:
President Macht introduced Ed Smith from the Stoughton Rotary and he is also District Treasurer. Ed’s niece Sandy is on the Space Station since mid November. She is a flight engineer. She will be returning home from the Space Station later this month. Very interesting program.

Student Rotarians Cassandra McDermott shared where she will be attending college and how much she learned about Rotary-February Student Rotarian. March Student Rotarians Lindsay Nevins, Lee Olson, and Doug Posorske was introduced by Matt Tubbin.

Jackie Myers isn’t cooking tonight, she will be attending the spaghetti dinner at St. Mark’s tonight.
Sue Happ who got married recently.
Sandee Macht for their vacation in Brazil.

Sue Johnson spoke about the Paul Harris award, and Every Rotarian, Every Year. Only $100 a year from each Rotarian can fund a lot of items in different countries to make life easier and to educate the children and adults.
Today we honored three people who have achieved their Paul Harris awards-Del Chmielewski for his 2nd one, Sandee Macht for her 4th level award, and Shirley Dempsey for her first Paul Harris. Sandee read off the names of all the Paul Harris fellows in our club who were asked to stand. Also named were the current participants in the Every Rotarian, Every Year program.
Del Chmielewski thanked Sue for the good job she did as Assistant District Governor.
Reference was made to the Bequest Society if someone wants to give a larger amount like $10,000, let Mike Swartz now so he can put in his report.
Sandee asked the board to stay a few minutes. Decision to continue to have meetings in the Puerner Room through May. Pat will let Bon Ton know this.

President Elect Mike Swartz welcomed everyone and led us in the pledge.

HAPPY BUCKS:
Colleen Locke for the stray dog who found their family about a week ago and if anyone wants him to let her know. Also for the quilt she was making for the Brat & Burger Raffle which she finished last weekend.
Program: Sharon Weber-Youth Librarian told us about the upcoming summer reading program “Be Creative” and what she does and how the program has grown over the years drawing people from outside of Jefferson. Sharon also spoke of the need for monetary help to help pay for books and programs as the city funding was cut this year also. Sharon stated she has a great time with the children ages 0-high school age and has a lot fun doing it. She showed some of the items they work with.
February birthdays were observed-Happy Birthday Jim van Lieshout.
Sue Johnson shared that one of the clubs she has visited instead of giving a mug or pen to the guest speaker donates a book to the library in the speakers name.

President Elect Mike Swartz welcomed everyone and led us in the pledge.
Student Rotarians February Student Rotarians are: Taylor Linse and Travis McDermott each spoke about their college plans. They both enjoyed the presentations at Rotary and the great food.
Visiting Rotarian: Bob Cheek-Fort Rotary Club and Doug Dewey–District Exec. for Southern Lakes District Boy Scouts of America.
HAPPY BUCKS:
Del Chmielewski for the Jefferson girls basketball team which won against Lake Mills last night by 12 points and Jefferson will play at Columbus, the number one team in the state on Thursday.
Pastor Nancy Carmichael who was the UW-Madison and saw Catlin Gibson play in her last game as a senior on Sunday. Also for the Caribbean cruise she will be taking with her Mother and daughter.
Jim van Liehoust for a Platteville comment to Travis, thanks to Bon Ton for the great meal and FCCU for the use of the room.
Steve Lehmann is glad his neighbor is back home and he didn’t have to shovel snow for him.
Dr. Volk for his Wyoming snowmobile trip in the mountains.
Shirley Dempsey for Mike and Sandy taking her to the fundraiser at the hospital on Saturday night.
Fines:
David Olsen for being 15 minutes late.
Program: Sue Johnson presented the scholarship guidelines the committee had set up and asked for input. Lots of input, some like limits, others didn’t. Include board has to approve the dollar amount to be given in the proposed budget by the Pres. Elect. Clubs ability to what the club can give each year. Technical college not listed here but Sue stated it was included. Application states one applicant for a technical college will receive a scholarship, this maybe needs to be changed that it doesn’t say “one”. Recommended the committee meet again to tweak the comments and bring back to the membership.
We will be meeting at the Puerner Room through the end of March.
Mike Swartz reminded everyone about the raffle tickets the CPA is selling for a two week stay in Hawaii.

Colleen Locke really into quilting and will be donating a quilt for the Brat & Burger.
Ray Krek $20 for a successful Democratic dinner this past weekend with 170 in attendance.
Janet Werner glad to be back.
Steve Stumbras for things not working out as planned but thankful for the great relationships he’s made over the past 10 years.
Del Chmielewski for Assistant Governors training this weekend.
Steve Lewis who was able to vote twice for the same person.
Sandee Macht who will be seeing her husband today who has been out of the country for seven weeks.
President Macht announced to the group that this is our last meeting at Meadow Springs, they will be closing today. Also that Mary enjoyed working with all of us. Tom Monogue suggested giving Mary the basket money as a thank you. This was done.
THE ROTARY CLUB WILL BE MEETING THRU MARCH 25TH AT THE PUERNER ROOM (FORT COMMUNITY CREDIT UNION) WITH BON TON CATERING OUR LUNCHES. It will be discussed where we will meet on a regular basis at our next board meeting in March. All Rotary items will be removed to the Puerner Building, we will go through those items at our March 25th meeting and discard or take to Tom Monogues office as he is archiving some of old records/Spokes etc. Steve Stumbras offered to move all the Rotary items over to the FCCU for the club.
Rotary Brunch: The brunch has been CANCELLED this year due to Meadow Springs closing. Didn’t feel there was enough time to arrange another place and get tickets/posters redone etc.
Matt Tubbin will be chairing new fundraiser/wine/beer tasting event. More info to follow.
Sue Johnson will present the guidelines from the scholarship committee on February 25th.
Top 10 banquets will have to be moved to another facility. It was stated Dr. Meyers was arranging speakers for these.

President Macht noted that Janet is now out of the hospital. She thanks the Rotary Club for the plant.
Brunch: Brunch is coming up. Posters will be handed out next week as will tickets. It was decided to shorten the time to 12:30 instead of 1:00. The new brunch hours will be 8:30-12:30. Prices will be $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. The brunch will be held April 5th.
Program:
Matt Tubbin spoke about our Rotary Club’s website,. He showed what is on each page. The meeting schedule, fund raisers and links to Rotary International are out there. There is also a members only section. In order to get there, the user name is Rotary09 and the password is jeff6250. There you will find all of the info that was in the last updated handbook that we sent out. Matt will be happy to put other items up on the website. Some members noted that perhaps we could have 2 portions to the members section. One would be the private area that would house names, addresses and phone numbers. The other would have all of the not so private info about members-the by laws, names of Paul Harris Fellows, award winners, scholarship recipients, etc. Also thought we might want to add a “contact us” area and list the current BOD.

President Mike Swartz led us in the pledge
Guests: Pastor Carmichael’s daughter Suzanne is here for two weeks. Eric Felth and Barb Mayhew was our program today.
Happy Bucks:
Pastor Nancy for her trip to the Black Hills with her grandchildren.
Ray Krek for their 23rd wedding anniversary which they spent in Philadelphia.
Gary Thompson thanked those that had turned in their brat & burger stubs and money for selling so quickly.
Mike Swartz for their trip to New York for Character Ed conference which was very good and for their vacation next week.
Fines:
Del was late and Dr. Uhl was late, Tom had the minutes down to the second I believe.
President Swartz talked about doing a Jefferson Food Pantry drive, he asked for thoughts on it, you can email him.
President Swartz presented Pastor Carmichael with her Paul Harris plaque, she was very honored to receive it.
Program: Jefferson Community Foundation
Barb Mayhew did a power point presentation on the foundation when it was started, how to donate, etc. She encouraged persons to give to the general fund. The Rotary Club is one of the founding organizations who donated $5,000 to get it started.

Student Rotarians: January’s Student Rotarians were Lauren Gruennert, Lindsay Knoebel and Brianna Kutz. They joined us one last time and spoke of their plans for the future. February Student Rotarians are: Taylor Linse, Cassandra McDermott and Travis McDermott. They were introduced to the group.

Shirley Dempsey: dine and dance with fellow Rotarians and spouses-had a great time!
Steve Lewis had 2 happy bucks for his trip. He said traveling thru the Panama Canal was worth a dollar itself!
FINES:
Tom fined everyone who had traveled or was traveling to a warm place +/- 4 months. He was jealous of all who were doing that.
President Macht noted that Janet Werner was in the hospital. Anyone interested in contacting Janet at thhe hospital could get the number from her.
Program:
The Chmielewskis and Olsens spoke about their Rotary Friendship Exchange to Turkey in November. It sounded like a fascinating trip. They watched belly dancing, went sailing on the Aegean Sea, toured the original Mausoleum, looked at the hypothetical Noah’s Ark, watched carpet weavers at work, went to a glass blowing factory, toured Hierapolis, Ephesus, and Cappadocia. A number of Turkish articles were brought with them and passed around. Numerous pictures were shown. It was truly a fascinating program!

Pastor Nancy for being on the North Shore of Lake Michigan and tried a closed area which proved to not be a good choice as she hurt her knee and that curtailed the rest of her activities.
Sandy Macht from Steve Lewis regarding his pre party on Feb. 7th 5pm prior to “Guys on Ice” and for the post party at the Swartz’s after the performance. Also for the church bells playing at the Immanuel United Methodist Church.
Ray Krek- State of the State address tonight and Ray & Gayle will be the quests of Andy Jorgenson tonight.
Mike Swartz for the long weekend him and Sandy had in Las Vegas and he brought back some $1 with Thompson CPA on them.
Steve Lehmann for Jim Werner being named the Citizen of the Year at the Chamber Annual Dinner Monday night.
Janet Werner for her Citizen of the Year-Jim.
Shirley Dempsey for the Chamber banquet Monday night and what a great job was done by Janet.

Business Meeting today:
Fundraiser discussed- beer and wine, Del and Jim vl will check into this how much is involved and how many people we need to run an event like this and report back. Watertown Rotary Club made$7,000 on their event.
Ray Krek suggested selling roses. Possibly a raffle. Not an event that is weather related.
Discussion on Rotary Brunch. Motion was made for ticket prices adults-$10, 12-3 yrs-$5, and under 3 free. Motion carried.
Our Board meeting will be Feb. 18.
