President Swartz led us in the pledge.

Student Rotarians for April: Jacqueline Splittgerber Jessica Splittgerber, Michael Stellmacher, Tyler Tomczak.
They all enjoyed their time with our club and learned more about what we do and how much we give back to the community. All are going to college.

Happy Bucks:
Janet Werner- 100 households participating in the city wide rummage sale on Saturday.
Sandee Macht- attended “Grease” on Friday and then went to Pastor Nancy’s party.

Fines:
None today

Business Meeting:
Vacation raffle with $1,000 cash for air fare. We need 4-6 more prizes to add on the ticket. If you have something you can donate please call President Swartz asap so we can get the ticket printed. Drawing will be held on Labor Day weekend. Tickets will be $20, 3/$50, 7/$100.
Cow Chip Challenge was presented and will be done at the Jeff. Cty Fair, tent provided by fair park. Challenge will be done on Sunday afternoon, tickets sold all week. Prizes: $1,000, $500, $250 and some extra items.
Multi-District PETS training are being planned for 2011-2012 Club Presidents.
Rotary Club banquet will be held on June 24th at Comfort Suites. Past presidents will be invited.
Club vision facilitation services are offered from the District to any club to look at your planning for the next five years which is very worth while to do. Dates will be emailed out as soon as I receive them.
Rotary Park clean up will be May 5th 4:30pm, we will go over to Vinnie’s after for burgers & ?
Please arrive early next week for the Top 10% luncheon so we can great our guests.
Fun Family Float is going well, reservations are coming in.

We were entertained by the cast from the Jefferson High School performance of “Grease” which will be held this weekend. Two groups performed and if you want to see the rest you’ll have to attend one of the performances starting Thursday evening. Very entertaining.

Happy Bucks:
Sandee Macht heard a brain “wave” on public radio and she was pleased.
Jackie Myers & Gary returned from Las Vegas where they attended a wedding and celebrated their 37th wedding anniversary.
Paul Novitzke who vacation last week in Mexico for 6 days.
David Olsen who spent some time in Florida and Ryan will be home for the weekend.
Steve Lehmann- Steve Lewis & Pam Chickering-Wilson’s article on the Fun Family Float article in the newspaper last week which was excellent.
Steve Lewis is really excited about the calls and people who are signing up for the event on May 15th. Also will need another boat to cruise the river and keep the waters calm for the event.

Fines:
Dell Olson thought President Mike Swartz should be fined because he didn’t bring the National people from Character Ed to Rotary last week. He gave some lingo about not having any money!!!! Dell did state that he could get by without paying with a report on how he felt the two days of interviewing and visiting our school district went.

MAKE-UPS: To get credit for make-ups you need to turn in your slip from the club you visited to Dr. Volk. You can also do make-ups on line at www.rotary.org, click on Club-District Support, click on Club Resources, and click on Meeting-make-up; follow the prompts to fill out the form which you need to turn in to Dr. Volk. Make ups need to be done according to the rules set up by RI. You can also do make ups at Fort Atkinson 12:10 p.m. Monday’s at Jansen Banquet Hall, Lake Mills 12:15 p.m. Tuesdays at Pine Knoll Supper Club, Watertown 12:10 Mondays at Watertown Country Club, Sun Prairie 7:15 a.m. Tuesdays at Colonial Club.

Chris Nash for his daughter’s recognition at school, and his other daughter attending Bucks game and being selected to sit down by the team.

Dr. Volk for the referendum that passed last week.

Announcements:
President Swartz was host today & Thursday to representatives from the Character Education National Headquarters for the Jefferson School District being selected as one of 20 finalists in the country.
President Elect Werner asked for someone to take over writing the Spoke and also to do PR for the club as of July 1st. Please get back to Werner if you are willing to take this on.

Program:
Jim van Lieshout spoke on Every Rotarian Every Year program for the Rotary Foundation, handouts were also given out. Get signed up, this is easy to do.

Happy Bucks:
Pastor Nancy for Joann being elected, condolensces to Gary Myers , and cement work on her house completed.
Tom Monogue $5 for the referendum passing and diddo to Pastor Nancys election remarks.
Dr. Meyers still in need of a speaker for May 5th-Middle School Luncheon.
Ray Krek who owns seven buildings is really happy to be paying more taxes.

President Swartz and Sandy made a pledge to give a $1 for every vote they won by, so they will be sending a check for $304 to the club which will be used for the Books for Baby promotion/Literacy Council. President Swartz also said he appreciated everything Mayor Myers during his term, thanked all who supported the referendum. He emphasized that with spending that kind of money the school will be maintained.

Fines:
Tom asked everyone who voted to raise their hand-didn’t go well, everyone except Dr. Freiberger who said he didn’t have anything to vote for where he lives. Tom went empty handed today.

Steve Lewis gave an update on the Fun Family Float. We will have a waiver form of insurance for the event.

Program:
Ann Johns-Government Contracting Specialist spoke and presented a slide presentation on government contracting and how to get started with the program.
