Jim Jossart who will be celebrating their 39^th wedding anniversary up in Door County.

Shirley Dempsey that her other half is in final resting place.

Chris Nash for their trip to Nashville and St. Louis.

Pastor Nancy for Steve Lewis helping out at the church and her hiking trip last week.

Colleen Locke for their trip to Niagara Falls this past weekend.

Janet Werner for the last concert in Rotary Park, Jesse Aron will close the season for us.

Tom Monogue for their daughter Marni who tried out for the cast and will be in the “Fiddler on the Roof “at Stoughton.

Mike Swartz for the new teacher’s luncheon on Monday and their back to school day today.

 

Fines:

Del Olson for having two desserts.

Everyone who ate a piece of pumpkin pie was fined.

Mr. Lehmann for what happens at Rotary stays at Rotary which he evidently doesn’t know per Tom Moore.

Dr. Volk for identification theft.

Ray Krek for being late.

 

President Swartz reminded the board of our board meeting next week.  Chris Stelzer will be inducted next week also.

Steve Lehmann asked if what happens at Rotary stays at Rotary then we should stop the newsletter.  President Swartz said we’d vote on it, motion failed.

 

Program: Steve Lewis introduced Kobby Antwi from Ghana who did a slide show and told about his country.  Kobby lives in a very small country with a large population.

 

President Swartz had a retirement party to attend so President Elect Werner closed the meeting

with the Four Way Test.

Happy Bucks:

Shirley Dempsey for winning in court today.

Kevin Brumm for being a winner at the B&B and what a great event we have which enables us to prove scholarships. For Mr. Moore being full of Rotary passion, and using his Sergeant at Arms authority to the fullest.  Also for Connor’s birthday, Kevin spoke of bringing Connor along to Rotary and stated he is now a freshman in HS.

Del Chmielewski comment about cash for clunkers pertaining to Brett also.

Janet Werner for sharing the same bench with her husband who has been a Vikings fan since day one and she has always been a Packer fan. So after forty some years they will both be rooting for the same team. Once a Packer Fan always a Packer fan.

Fines:

Tom Moore was on a role, he fined Colleen for wasting 4 ounces of beer, Jim van Lieshout for no helmet, no motorcycle, riding a moped without a skirt, Toby Tully for an out of control grill. Dr. Turley for not sharing his pizza, Steve Lehmann for explicit language, Janet Werner for leaving before Tom did, anyone who did  not go to the party after or didn’t attend the Brat & Burger.  Just how much did you collect Tom?

 

Ray Krek suggested we spend $500 for some Briggs & Stratton products which are on sale next weekend.

 

President Swartz thanked everyone for helping with the Brat & Burger.  Raffle made us $600, silent auction $2385.

 

President Swartz asked everyone if able to attend the Teacher Welcome on Wed. Aug. 26, 7:30 at the High School auditorium area to welcome the teachers back to school.

President Mike Swartz led us in the pledge

 

Guest of Tom Moore is Chris Stelzer who will be inducted as our newest Rotarian in the near future.

Guest of Shirley Dempsey is Brian Waters.

 

Happy Bucks:

Toby Tully Jr. for catching his first musky last week up north.

Shirley Dempsey for Brian being here and hopefully they be will having a business partnership.

Sandee Macht for being at the State Fair and Friday is her and Josh’s 12^th anniversary.

Dr. Meyers for his daughter starting Med. School.

Steve Lehmann for being at the State Fair also and his and Val’s 14^th anniversary Sunday.

Janet Werner for the concert in the park tonight, Midwesterners playing and her and Jim’s 42^nd anniversary today.

 

Fines:

Every one who had two desserts today was fined and for something to do with the “Brat Fry.” That should be a fine!

 

Steve Lewis stated there are four tickets left to sell for the Brat & Burger and prizes are coming in.  Brat & Burger is Monday, if you haven’t got your prize items in, do so ASAP.

 

Su Rupprecht for helpers for the Ride for Hope on Aug. 21^st.  Let her know if you can help.

 

President Swartz spoke briefly about items in the District newsletter, if you’re not getting that newsletter you need to get your email to the District.

 

President Swartz turned the podium over to Tom Monogue whose program was on the History of  the Jefferson Rotary Club.  Tom shared some very interesting historical data and had a lot of items for everyone to look at.  Shelters built at various parks and money donated for various Rotary projects. Jefferson Rotary club will be celebrating 75 years in 2010 and he hopes we will do something special to celebrate that event.  Tom stated he had some ideas.

President Mike Swartz led us in the pledge

 

No guest or visiting Rotarians.

 

Happy Bucks:

Sandee Macht saw Gordon Mortensen at the club she spoke at and her husband now has his real estate license.

Pastor Nancy Carmichael for the Ready for Kids program, approximately 1300 children this year so if you can help out with a donation to please do so.

Steve Lewis for getting tickets sold and he has two rooms at the Crown Plaza for a raffle item.

Jackie Myers for his birthday yesterday, she stated it ended in a zero but didn’t offer the number preceding the zero.

Paul Novitzke for his canoe trip with his son 24 miles up in the Winter area of Wisconsin.

Janet Werner for attending the EAA show at Oshkosh and seeing the Air Bus take off and do maneuvers on Friday.

Gary Thompson for doing PR for the city, Channel 12 was here today doing a program on the economy.

The Swartz’s for their 7^th grandson born yesterday and weighing in at 10lbs+.  Mike stated he had prime rib for supper.

 

Fines:  Everyone was fined who did not have their B&B tickets sold and money turned in.

 

Dr. Volk stated he NEEDS PRIZES we are less than two weeks away AND ARE NOT EVEN CLOSE TO WHAT WE NEED.

 

President Swartz sent around a sheet for speakers for up coming meetings-sign up please.  August is filled.

 

Gary Thompson stated his office will be closed Thursday & Friday of this week but if you have unsold tickets you need to get them into him by Tuesday August 11^th.  NO LATER!

 

President Swartz asked for persons to sit on the different committees, we then broke out into groups and started talking about what we need to do.

 

A donation was taken for the Master Gardener’s raffle ticket.
