A native of Springfield , Illinois, Ms. Sparling began her professional singing and acting career at the age of seven.  She has a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Kansas with an emphasis in vocal music.  She has vast experience in vocal music performance, singing in the extensive Kansas City Jazz scene, and teaching high school chorus.

Her career took a somewhat different tract when she was approached by a regional opera singer.  For the next few years, Ms. Sparling studied at the Kansas City Conservatory of Music, The University of Illinois and in several private studios in Austria, Germany and Italy.  In 1993 she moved to New York City and studied in many private studios of the Metropolitan Opera.

Ms. Sparling is a dramatic soprano with innumerable performances to her credit.  In 2002 she moved back to Wisconsin founding the Sparling Conservatory teaching 47 students in her private voice and acting studio.  She also started Sparling Theatrical Productions, a regional theater company offering professional dramas, comedies, Broadway musicals, gala concerts and operas.  She is the director of Grace Notes singers at St John’s Lutheran Church here in Jefferson.

Please join me in welcoming Ms. Kay Sparling…

Kay spoke about her experiences and how the following points all played a part in her life because we don’t know where our paths may lead us. Points to remember: dream big, be persistent, have resilience, be flexible, be open minded, always take the high road, be community minded.  And above all never forget your family, make those roots grow deep and have faith in God.
